Talk:Huron Carol
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bruce cockburn lyrics are correct. The carol was translated by [John Steckley] (see: http://clf.uua.org/quest/2001-12.html )of Humber College, who taught himself Huron by using Brebeuf's Huron dictionary and ethnological material gathered from the Wyandots. That's why I have re-worked the article to bring up the fact that the 1926 translation has no basis in the original song. Lafarge Dodger 02:15, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] diverts from the French?
Can someone clarify how the English verse diverts from the French/Indian version? Since the original song isn't provided, it's not clear what this statement means. The English does plenty of diverting from the original Gospel story itself, so I'm confused as to what the article is saying here.... Aristophanes68 (talk) 20:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
