Taiping houkui belongs to a family of tea from Anhui province called Jian Cha (pointed tea).

There are various grades of Jian Cha, the best being Houkui, follow by various varieties of Kuijian.

Traditionally hou kui tea comes from the 3 villages of hou keng, hou chun and yan chia chun.

It is now the name that given to the entire family of teas around the Taiping county, and not just from the Houkeng village as the article stated.
