HMAS Paluma

Four Australian naval vessels have been named Paluma, after an Aboriginal word meaning "thunder"
- The first HMQS Paluma was a gunboat built in 1884.
- The second HMAS Paluma was an auxiliary patrol boat built in 1941.
- The third HMAS Paluma previously known as Motor Stores Lighter No 252 (MSL 252) was built in 1944-45 before being converted for survey work and commissioned as HMAS Paluma in 1946.
- The forth HMAS Paluma is the lead ship of the Paluma class of motor launches, built in 1989.
