Talk:History of Young Physicists' Tournament in Russia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have finally found time to search for all reliable sources on YPT in Russia and on early years of IYPT that were held in Soviet Union and in Russia.
I’m quite sure that this information will be interesting to the IYPT community because not much is known on the YPT in 1980s and on the very first IYPTs.
According to the Wikipedia Verifiability and Neutral Point of View principles I targeted to provide references to the sources of any significant information, and to provide references to all available opinions on the subject.
After analyzing many fascinating press-releases of YPTs in 1980s, I can say that the motivation and the emotional atmosphere of that time were considerably different to the atmosphere of 1999 when I became an YPT participant myself. However, my primary aim was not to let my personal 9-year-long IYPT experience interfere with the factual information.
I’m certainly willing to improve this article, but also to help improving other IYPT-related articles with the factual information which may be available currently only in Russian.
I am also hoping that some information (on the YPT logo, on early YPT problems or on the early IYPTs) may help to improve or expand the International Young Physicists' Tournament article.

[edit] History of YPT or YPT?
I see that Kintetsubuffalo has moved History of Young Physicists' Tournament in Russia to Young Physicists' Tournament in Russia and noted that the title was too long.
However, the word History is very important here, as the article is not about today's competition, or about the YPT in general.
The difference is like between articles History of the Luftwaffe during World War II and Luftwaffe.
If there are no objections, I would move it back. :)) --Ilya Martchenko 20:03, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that it should be moved back. --Georg Hofferek 15:25, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
