It appears that the original version of this article was written by the folks at AHIP- a commercial hip protector dealer. The data was biased and the writing style matched the AHIP website. I made heavy edits and added a recent study which shows the lack of protector effectivenes. I left the website for AHIP, since I'm not sure of Wikipedia's policy on commercial links.
