Highlandville is a city in Christian County, Missouri, United States. The population was 872 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Highlandville is located at 36°56′34″N, 93°17′11″W (36.942690, -93.286447)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.0 square miles (12.9 km²), of which, 5.0 square miles (12.9 km²) of it is land and 0.20% is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 872 people, 321 households, and 248 families residing in the city. The population density was 175.2 people per square mile (67.6/km²). There were 347 housing units at an average density of 69.7/sq mi (26.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.25% White, 1.03% Native American, 0.34% from other races, and 1.38% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.92% of the population.

There were 321 households out of which 38.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% were married couples living together, 14.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.7% were non-families. 19.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.10.

In the city the population was spread out with 28.7% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 104.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $31,767, and the median income for a family was $33,229. Males had a median income of $24,125 versus $20,682 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,442. About 14.4% of families and 17.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 25.2% of those under age 18 and 16.1% of those age 65 or over.
