[edit] About public-domain status

IMHO, the public domain status according to the Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp. ruling should be okay here. It's an image of a single detail on one side of a three-dimensional object, focussing on just the painting on that side, not on the object (the shape of the skyphos) itself. The amount of creative activity on the part of the photographer is not significantly higher than in the case of photographing a fully two-dimensional painting. The Bridgeman PD also does not apply to modified images. Cf another (fuller) image from the same site http://www.theoi.com/Gallery/K7.1B.html Also I'm not sure if Wikipedia is really to expand the interpretation the Bridgeman PD ruling--anything that is not cut and dry should really be avoided. --Theranos 12:41, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
