Hellno2's Random Article Patrol (RAP): An operation to identify and determine which Wikipedia pages are valid and which are not, and to propose those that are not for deletion. Pages needing improvement or reference improvement are also identified.
On every day (unless unavailable that day), I inspect 10 random articles, and mark whether or not I think they are valid, possibly identifying other problems and placing appropriate tags. Common red flags are a living person not in a field that is viewed as inherently notable (such as politics or professional sports), or local businesses with no references at all, or with the sole external link being their own site.
The following are not reasons for proposing an article for deletion, though I may add other appropriate tags:
- Articles that are very short or are stubs
- Articles that are incomplete and have a lot of blanks
- Articles that do not have references, but are about topics that are generally considered to be notable
- Articles that are on legitimate topics, but are poorly written
Though I may express various concerns over articles, since I am not familiar with every single topic around the world, and I do not have the knowledge needed to make the needed improvements, I cannot fix every problem myself.
To this date, I have proposed 16 of these articles for deletion. Seven were kept, with new references being added to some, and other improvements being made. Seven were deleted (two speedy), and one was merged. I withdrew one nomination following a quick unanimous concensus to keep. One is pending.
