[edit] Spirit

Sports teams are nicknamed the Hebron Hawks (with Lady Hawks referring to women's sports) and the school colors are black, silver and blue. The official school mascots are Harry the Hawk and "Honey the Hawk".

Football players are encouraged to "Bring the Wood" (abbreviated BTW) by their coaches and a large plank of wood can be seen at football games with the phrase inscribed on its side. The popular slogan has earned Hebron's stadium the nickname "The Woodshed." "Bring the Wood" was invented by members of the 2000 Freshman Hawks Football team, also the first team to win a district championship in football winning the 2000 District 9-4A district championship for Freshman teams. [1]

The hawk talon, raised in the air while singing the alma mater, is made by curling the index and middle finger in the air while bending the thumb toward the palm in a similar fashion and tucking the ring and pinky fingers into the palm completely.

[edit] Trivia

  • The mascot was almost a hippo, but the hawk was eventually decided on.
  • The Hebron "Super H" Logo was chosen by Coach Brian Brazil from the XFL team New York Hitmen.
  • The official "Hawk" logo was designed by Lewis Baker, one of the first graduates who played football for the University of Oklahoma and was recently drafted to the 49ers.
  • The Class of 2002 was the first graduating class.
  • Hebron High School is located in what used to be the old town of Hebron. Only a few small patches of the town remain; most has been incorporated into surrounding cities of Carrollton, Plano, and The Colony. Replicas of many of the old buildings that once made up the town of Hebron are displayed in the Hebron High School library. First Baptist Church Hebron still stands as a permanent landmark.
  • The alma mater was written by members of the class of 2002 and 2003. The words are:

Hebron you are so grand, finest school in all the land. Together we will fly, as years go by. Hawks soar with pride and grace, flying to a higher place. You stand so strong and true, go black, silver, blue.
