Talk:Harry Redford
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I want to contest vigorously the CSD on this article.
Harry Redford is acknowledged as a well-known figure in the early history of Australian pastoral expansion. A Google search brings up about 1500 references to him, some written by respected historians. He is included in the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Volume 4, published by Melbourne University Press. Any Australian historian would be aware of Harry Redford, who in his time became a sort of folk hero!! What more do I have to say?? Did anyone actually look at this article before applying the CSD??
This is only my second article, so I'm still a beginner at this game.
I should mention that I'm well aware that there's still some work to do on this article, especially internal references, further reading, etc. I hope to do that in the next few days.

- Bio is not online (http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/A030172b.htm?). It should be used as a reference either way.--Grahamec 03:41, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Apology
I was incorrect in claiming that Harry Redford had an entry in the Aust Dictionary of Biography. My apologies. --ARBrennan 07:40, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Redford's date of death
We seem to have two different dates, 1901 and 1911. Which is correct? I took the 1911 date from "The Drovers" by Keith Willey (Macmillan 1982), but I note that John Deckert in his web article says 1901. --ARBrennan 08:04, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] captain starlight
I'm a little confused. Captain Starlight redirects here, and the text tells me that Harry Redford was the captain. However, I've also heard that Frank Pearson was captain Starlight,. Am I right in deducing that there were two bushrangers who used the name, a decade or two apart? The entry for Robbery Under Arms says the character by that name in that book is an amalgam of them both, plus another, which doesn't help me any.
If there are more than one Captains, I'll rewrite the page to be a brief disambiguation / clarification page.WotherspoonSmith (talk) 07:12, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
