[edit] Welcome!
Hi there. Thanks for the notice about the California Green Archive. The copyright violation notice has been removed.
And while I'm here, let me Welcome you to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions. I hope you like it here and stick around. If you want, you can drop us a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself.
A few tips before you start doing a lot of editing:
- A few basic rules: Try to write from a neutral point of view, be bold in editing pages, and use Wikiquette.
- A handy page for newcomers is the welcome page. The Wikipedia tutorial also gives a lot of basic info that will help get you oriented on Wikipedia. If you have any other questions about the project then check out Wikipedia:Help or Wikipedia:Where to ask a question.
- When you post something on a talk/discussion page, you can sign your name by using three tildes (" ~~~ ") for your username and four (" ~~~~ ") for your username and a timestamp.
- Remember to provide an edit summary when editing.
- If you ever find yourself with nothing to do on Wikipedia, have a look at the Community Portal, you'll find that there's always something happening.
If you have any questions, comments, or just want to say hi, don't hesitate to write to me on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Happy editing! :-) Akamad 23:54, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Peter Camejo
Hi, thanks for your recent contributions to the article. You may be interested to see my recent edits to the criticisms section current version. I've added "{{fact}}" next to asssertions that need to be sourced. One of Wikipedia's major pillars is verifiability, and to that end, you need to cite your sources. Often, wording like "some argue" or "critics say," while in the spirit of NPOV, can be an inadvertent way of just saying your personal opinion. The best way to overcome this, which we would term original research is to source those assertions and specify exactly who said that. Hope you can give this another lookover. Also, I'm sure Camejo has received as much or more criticism from outside the Green Party (his poitical opponents) as within. Perhaps you could expand that? Thanks and feel free to ask me any questions on my talk page. Dmcdevit·t 07:53, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] William J. Quinn
If you can give me the copyright status of the photo, I can untag it. It's bad form letting people know a photo is at a certain link - it's much better to actually put the photo on the page. So I moved the photo to the Wikipedia Commons, where it is now hosted. If you can go back to the link and tell me if that photo is available for use, or if it is one of your own works, or if it has no copyright, then I will untag it so it stays on the page. Thank you, -zappa 23:48, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] NPOV
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. As a member of the Wikipedia community, I would like to remind you of Wikipedia's neutral-point-of-view policy for editors. You may also be interested in reading The five pillars of Wikipedia, our Help pages, the Tutorial, the policy on citing sources, and our Manual of Style.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!
-Will Beback 08:15, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- PS: A user's comments drew my attnetion to your edits and I saw this edit [1] to Jerry Brown. I help you see why this isn't acceptable. If not, spend some more time learning our polices and practices. It takes us all a while to get the hang of "writing for the enemy". Thanks, -Will Beback 08:15, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Barbie and the Kens
Please add some verifiable sources to Barbie and the Kens showing that the group in fact had a hit. "Verifiable" means that any user is able to look it up at a reliable site. Thanks, NawlinWiki 02:02, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright

[edit] Izzy Gomez
As it says at the TOP of my Talk Page, I am not an admin and incapable of deleting anything. Checking the deletion log would tell you who deleted what.
But don't bother, since it was never deleted to begin with: Izzy Gomez (restaurateur). --Calton | Talk 01:12, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
- How come you suggested speedy deletion of the real person named Izzy Gomez? You did nothing to the character from Tuggs that used his name for a cartoon? If a real person exists, and can be substantiated by numerous references , who are you to suggest deletion of the submission? 03:02, 8 October 2006 (UTC)~
- What in HELL are you on about? I'm the one who requested it be undeleted AFTER it was speedy-deleted. AND I notified you about exactly what I'd done. Get a grip. --Calton | Talk 06:18, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] "Intrusive decisions"
I'm not sure exactly what was meant by the "Why don't we have a user box called this user is an intrusive decider?" you tacked on to my user page, but I'd appreciate it if you'd use my talk page for that kind of thing in the future. If this is regarding the Dead Kennedys reference I removed from the SFPD article -- perhaps you don't think it's fair that I removed it -- please use the discussion page for that article to tell why it might be something worth keeping. Thanks. Dynaflow 03:51, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Michael Gaffey
A tag has been placed on Michael Gaffey, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 17:33, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of strikes
A few?! Your edit summary said you added "a few" to the list. I'd say "a lot" would be more accurate! Very cool. Cheers.--Bookandcoffee 00:21, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] June 2007
Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added to the page The Crucible/Oakland CA do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. KJS77 04:25, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notability of George Wittman
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on George Wittman, by Scarian (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because George Wittman seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting George Wittman, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 01:08, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mission High School (San Francisco, California)
Hello. I appreciate your addition of references to the Mission High School page in response to the [citation needed] tag for Hank Chapot. What we are looking for is a suitable third party reference which editors can use to verify attendance at Mission HS. Unfortunately we can't just take one's word for it as that would amount to original research. Thanks. Zedla 06:51, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Jardi Petra Kelly in Barcelona, Spain.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Jardi Petra Kelly in Barcelona, Spain.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:07, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Barcelona bike program2.JPG
Thank you for uploading Image:Barcelona bike program2.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 02:17, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Edwin N. Atherton.pdf
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Edwin N. Atherton.pdf. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Edwin N. Atherton.pdf)
Thanks for uploading Image:Edwin N. Atherton.pdf. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:20, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Duplicate images uploaded
Thanks for uploading Image:Museum of Garden History, London -14.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Museum of Garden History London.jpg. The copy called Image:Museum of Garden History London.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 02:30, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. This article was deleted after an uncontested PROD. There should be no problem if you want to recreate it. I'll undelete it if you'd like, but it really needs to be rewritten. -- ☑ SamuelWantman 06:43, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Jesse B. Cook.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Jesse B. Cook.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:49, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AfD nomination of List of people killed in bicycle-related accidents
I have nominated List of people killed in bicycle-related accidents, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of people killed in bicycle-related accidents. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. [edit] Speedy deletion of Kent Warner Smith
A tag has been placed on Kent Warner Smith requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. George D.
