[edit] PLC Perth mention
I see that there is a notice in the article about not removing the section relating to students of Presbyterian Ladies College, Perth. There have been lengthy discussions at the PLC Perth talk page, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Schools and Wikipedia talk:Reliable sources (now archived as "web forum citing a newspaper article") about whether this information should be included in the PLC Perth article. Wikipedia:Reliable sources states that we cannot accept web forums as sources. Unless someone finds a more reliable source, I believe that this information should be removed to meet this guideline. Sorry. It is actually entitled "Web forum quoting a newspaper article", item 22 in archive 4 of Wikipedia talk:Reliable sources. My mistake. Blarneytherinosaur 00:13, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Pictures
I have just uploaded a load of pictures of the school to wikipedia for use in this article. I have made an attempt to add them to the page. SGoat 16:41, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Removal of 'Current Developments section
Twenty Years, I see that you have deleted alot of info about the current developments. Is this necessary?? If there are people regularly updating it with the current happenings why did you think it was necessary to remove it. 203.59.159.81 09:07, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- It is cruft and is not backed up by reliable sources Twenty Years 09:44, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with Twenty years. The text removed was a mix of unsourced speculation and spam, and written in an un-encyclopaedic tone. —Moondyne 10:32, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Do you think that the original info about what the development involves could be put back in if a source is shown) (Hale Website and current Haleian Magazine) Batxuh 12:53, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Certainly some of it could - but it needs to be written with our WP:NPOV policy in mind. I suggest posting what you'd propose here (ie. this talk page) first. —Moondyne —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 12:58, August 26, 2007 (UTC).
Thanks for explaining everything guys. You have been very helpful and this will assist me in writing articles on Wikipedia in the future. Batxuh 00:54, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Requested re-assessment
This is a very good article with a well referenced history section and some good pictures. It seems to have "a majority of the material needed for a completed article" to qualify for a B rating. It could do with more information about the school's curriculum and is missing a section on extracurricular activities. There are a few puzzling terms which need explaining for the benefit of non-Aussies (eg, plexipave, Aquaturf). It would help if you gave age equivalents for the school years as a year 1 in Australia is quite possibly very different from say a Year 1 in the UK. With a long list of important Establishment alumni this is high importance. You need to reduce the lists (ie, convert to prose) and focus in particular on referencing all the alumni and the headmasters if you want to progress to good article status (see the Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools]] page for advice on how to do this). Dahliarose 18:41, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think that you have nailed this assessment right on the head, top work. Twenty Years 02:05, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Neutrality Tag
I have removed the neutrality tag. The IP who placed it on the article stated in the edit summary "Written by the PR department", which tends to suggest a pro-Hale bias in the article. I am at a loss to find a pro-Hale sentence in the article, which even criticises the school for its elitest nature. The only thing i could possibly think was written by the PR department is the section on its academic programs, which mentions some awards the school has won, yet this is referenced. I think it is more than fair to remove this tag. Twenty Years 07:06, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
