GWR 645 Class

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GWR 645 Class was a class of 0-6-0 saddle tank locomotives constructed by Joseph Armstrong at the Wolverhampton railway works of the Great Western Railway. Thirty were constructed between 1872-3. They had 4ft 6½in driving wheels and 16in x 24in cylinders. Cabs were added a few years after construction. Later on these locomotives were rebuilt with larger pannier tanks extending over the smokebox and 17in x 24in cylinders. None has survived into preservation.
