Gunnar Staalesen (born October 19, 1947 in Bergen) is a Norwegian writer. Staalesen has a Cand philol. degree from Universitetet i Bergen[1] and he has worked at Den Nationale Scene, the main theater in Bergen.[citation needed]
Staalesen's crime novels about private detective Varg Veum have been translated into 12 languages,[citation needed] and it have been decided to produce six movies[2] and the first one, «Bitre Blomster», is scheduled for release on September 28 2007.[3] [Anachronism] There are reportedly several movies under production.[4]
