[edit] Name/Guinness Peat Group

Seems like an odd name. Anyone know why it was called "Guinness Peat Aviation"? --dahamsta 15:23, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

One of the original investors was a merchant bank called Guinness Peat. They seem to be still around [1]--Ryano 11:10, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
They are around but I could only find a few references that link the two [2], and this one [3] that states: - The Guinness Peat Group (a British financial services company) announced it was selling its 19.6% stake in Guinness Peat Aviation. The decision is related to plans to rationalise the company's operations (dated May 8, 1988) and on the same topic another here [4] that states: - According to the Irish Times a group of Irish Financial Institutions are expected to purchase the 14% stake in Guinness Peat Aviation, which is being disposed of by the Guinness Peat Group. (dated October 30, 1988). Nothing on the GPG website that goes back that far to help us. ww2censor 15:38, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
