Talk:Great Northern Way Campus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A good friend of mine is thinking about going here, so I decided to get this page started. Once the inaugural class begins, perhaps someone can add more information about the MDM --Eikenhein 20:23, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
I removed the content of this page, as it was plagiarized from the official website. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 20:50, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I've added (replaced) this stub with a revised article that includes recent information about the MDM Program and other GNWC tenants. Gnwc (talk) 00:22, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Gnwc. Are you by any chance affiliated with the Great Northern Way Campus? Perhaps that might explain why your edits have made the article look like an advertisement. You should know that this goes against wikipedia policy. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 02:19, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

- Hi jbmurray, Having reviewed the Wikipedia policy on standards in neutrality, objective and unbiased style, notability, conflict of interest, and self-promotion, I actually think the style and content of this article is basically OK. As far as the style goes, I can't find an instance where the language used is really exaggerated or embellished, and/or overtly promotes or endorses the campus or its faculty/staff/students. As far as content goes, the information is factual and third-party verifiable (several legitimate references are noted). If the issue is about self-promotion, conflict of interest, or notability, Wikipedia policy states "Editing in an area in which you have professional or academic expertise is not, in itself, a conflict of interest. Using material you yourself have written or published is allowed within reason, but only if it is notable and conforms to the content policies. Excessive self-citation is strongly discouraged. When in doubt, defer to the community's opinion." (which I am doing here). Also, please keep in mind that GNWC is a new campus, and accurate (i.e. up-to-date) information is currently difficult to find online and elsewhere, and this article points Wikipedia users to reliable sources of information about the campus like newspapers articles and official websites. That being said, I think this article, like any wiki article, always stands to be edited - but I don't believe the article requires the radical revision that you recommend. I thinks it's safe to remove the advertising alert, if you think otherwise, please be specific in your comments.Gnwc (talk) 23:58, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
{{Request edit}} Please review and make necessary edits to this article. I've added this contribution as an employee of GNWC, which places me in a (potential) conflict of interest. However, I do not think the tone and content of this article violates Wikipedia's guidelines for a Neutral Point of View. Gnwc (talk) 19:30, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for this, Gnwc. I and also, I see, MBisanz have been working on the article. I think its promotional tone is now sufficiently reduced that we can remove the warning box. My feeling is that the institution is only borderline notable, by the way, but am happy to leave things as they are for the moment. As you know now, if you want to suggest edits, please do so in future here on the talk page. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 03:56, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
