[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:GRC logo.png
Thank you for uploading Image:GRC logo.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 10:30, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of Glasgow Rowing Club
A tag has been placed on Glasgow Rowing Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] January 2008
If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Glasgow Rowing Club, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. - and you must always:
- avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. Dekisugi (talk) 11:04, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AfD nomination of Glasgow Rowing Club
I have nominated Glasgow Rowing Club, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Glasgow Rowing Club. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. - Jameson L. [edit] Images on Glasgow Rowing Club
You appear to have taken these images yourself, but the license you have released them under does not appear to be appropriate for Wikipedia as far as I can see, but I am not an expert on images. I have tried to add more content and references to the article, but it still needs some independent sources to justify notability. --Bduke (talk) 04:12, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking an interest. You will gather that I'm new to Wikipedia editing. Although I'm very comfortable with computers and software, I find it quite difficult to tick the boxes to everyone's satisfaction - and in good time! - so it's good to have a constructive comment.
I chose what appeared to be the best licence for the two images, which were both originated by Glasgow Rowing Club. Can you suggest where I might find a definitive guide to licences?--GRCSecretary (talk) 14:03, 24 January 2008 (UTC)- You really need to get the Club to release the images under a free license or into the public domain. Maybe you could ask about the license you used at Wikipedia:Image copyright help desk. I see more information is coming along on the article. You need to find sources independent of the Club that says the Club is important. --Bduke (talk) 21:59, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] COI
My COI on this topic is a problem - other than being deceitful about my relationship to the subject I can see no way to put some honest information online. I took great pains to provide the most basic information on the history of the club with no 'spin' or embellishment. The nature of a small club in a small sport in a small country is that if I don't do this, no-one else will! --GRCSecretary (talk) 14:03, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
