Talk:Goth punk

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isn't goth punk originally a way to describe the horrorpunk, psychobilly, deathrock and [post-punk]] bands?Cyanid 19:52, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

The term isn't really valid. The correct term would be Gothic Punk... And that genre has been aroung since the early days of gothic rock. Since it was its roots... I'm thinking on rewriting this whole article since MCR really has no place here. --JimEerie (talk) 16:37, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Delete this article?

Anyone who had any sense of history about the gothic and punk genres, would know that gothic rock is a sub-genre of punk rock. So blending them into one doesn't make any sense.

These bands listed (Afi, My Chemical Romance) are just pop-punk/emo bands.

I strongly suggest that this article should be rethought or re-written. Raven. 10:14, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I agree! Chuck this article. Deathrock is the key fusion of goth and punk. 88.109.250.211 (talk) 14:12, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Look... the article is full with untrue information. First - Goth punk doesn't exist. It's a term used sometimes about AFI's middle stuff. Second - the style of My Chemical Romance and Aiden does not reseble the "goth-punk" AFI sound in Black Sails/Art of Drowning. Third - there are no sources to state what the musical characteristics of this style are. Fourth - deathrock in US and batcave post-punk are the two style that could be placed between punk and goth. Now the article gives the true definiton of goth punk. But it still deserves to be deleted... Xr 1 (talk)
