This is in response to your queries. Yes, the "ngeeann" is for our NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION. "We" is indeed as you mentioned a group of people. And all of us are the staff of the Secretariat, fully authorised to key in the information. We are the owners of the copyright, and you as an admin supposed to verify and not blindly delete. Now you have caused inconvenience to the mass public who is beneficiaries of our charitable organisation. Wikipedia is a encyclopedia and because of your deletion of our mandarin version of the Ngee Ann Kongsi article, you have effectively marginalised the people who cant understand English. Do you understand Chinese in the first place? If you dont, please do not just delete. Thank you. I hope you replace the article in question and hence does not cause inconvenience to Singapore's public. Our scholarships and bursaries awards are around the corner and the many Chinese-educated parents need the information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ngeeann (talkcontribs) 09:20, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Request for Page Protection Removal

Request that you revisit Fitna Film decision, the only vandalism tag was addressed to a member. I reverted myself in error and restored. I think a quick query on the need for protection to the Fitna Discussion page will find that the current editorial community for the article sees no need. There is no perception of any issues with those currently contributing to it.75.57.165.180 (talk) 19:29, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry there has been way too much vandalism in the past couple weeks, there needs to be a break. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) 19:31, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

? Would it not be necessary precondition of protection that at the very least those involved in editing the article would at a minimum perceive a need for it?75.57.165.180 (talk) 19:39, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

What? « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) 19:40, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

If no member of the community editing the article - and therefore the same people reverting Vandalism, thinks there is a problem, then how can a problem exist? There are only 3 instances in the last 24 hours - the last over 2 hours ago.75.57.165.180 (talk) 19:54, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

It's not just you, it is the history of the article, including the many other bad edits that occurred on the page. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) 20:01, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Not just me? I am included in the basis for Protection? Or do I misinterpret your phrasing75.57.165.180 (talk) 20:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

No, not including your edits, there has been 12 vandalism reverts within the last 50 changes. Your explanation makes sense, it really had nothing to do with you. Sorry if there was any confusion. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) 20:10, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Semi-protection of Scotland

Hi there, the level of anonymous IP vandalism doesn't really seem high on the Scotland article, only three edits this evening? Earlier today User:20.133.0.13 (semi-regular editor to the article) was engaging in an edit war, however they have since been blocked. Thanks/wangi (talk) 20:54, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, there have been 45 edits of Scotland today, 14 of which have been reverts or undo's and looking back on the past 10 days, there is a lot of anonymous vandalism, so I believe that a 2 week break will help to deter the vandalism. Cheers! « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) 22:43, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi Gonzo fan; thing is most of those edits/reverts are in a content disagreement I'm in the middle of trying to mediate. The number of "real" anonymous IP vandal edits is minimal. Semi-protection will not have any effect on 95%+ of the editors involved in the content dispute should they break out again (things are looking hopeful though) — full protection or blocking of users would be required. The Scotland article has a history of no semi-protection being applied — this is the first time. The article is on a vast number of watchlists and vandal edits are normally reverted very quickly. I do not want to bar well intentioned IP editors from working on this article. Thanks/wangi (talk) 22:53, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Don't worry, if it needs full protection I'll protect it myself. Thanks/wangi (talk) 23:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Blink-182

Hi. I don't understand why you semi-protected Blink-182. You state "anon-vandalism" when there really has been no vandalism. Editors reverting narca's edits mislabeled them as vandalism. They were in good faith. Also, there really has been no anon vandalism at all. I suggest you unprotect this because it didn't need protection in the first place. Timmeh! 23:14, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

My RFA has closed

My RFA that you weighed in on earlier has closed as no consensus to promote, at a final tally of 120/47/13. I thank you for your feedback and comments there, and I'm going to be considering all the various advice and comments presented. I might end up at RFA again some day, or not. If you see me there again in the future, perhaps you might consider a Support !vote. If not, not, and no hard feelings. The pen is still mightier than the mop! See you around, and thanks again. Re: Wow!

Thanks, I do what I can to help out around here, but the Featured Lists are just a side project — my main goal is to continue to improve my understanding of policy and as I said in my RFA, I intend on helping out by fighting vandalism, but by starting out conservatively. If you don't mind, I'd like to reach you in a few months time if and when I am submitted for another RFA, before the actual nomination, so I can get an honest assessment from you :) I enjoyed that RFA because now I know what I have to improve, and I'm well aware that article contribution ISN'T one of those things! :p Gary King (talk) 07:54, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the questions, I don't see what the big deal is for everyone, but I guess that's because that was the first time I actually went through the process myself. It wasn't really that overwhelming at all, but I have indeed seen some RFAs with 5 or less questions. Gary King (talk) 08:07, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
I notice that you have a few WP:FLs under your belt, which I guess was why you were at WP:FLC. Funny how I keep bumping into the same administrators every so often. I've seen Pedro (talk · contribs) around a fair bit, too. Gary King (talk) 08:09, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Image deletion

Thanks for quickly deleting this image. I have used this photographer's images. He is strict with usage, but generous to those who use his images in their stated purpose with his permission. Sorry if I didn't quite get the instructions correct. --Blechnic (talk) 06:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

My mistake, it appears you are not the only one who does not know what I am talking about. I am trying to get an image deleted. I watched the image deletion log and saw what appeared to be an entry listing you deleting the image. I am pretty sure, though, that I did the tag wrong, or something. Any chance you could explain what to do? This image Image:Loch Lomond button celery.jpg isa copyright violation. The web page it was taken from[2] allows academic and personal use of thumbnails, but Wikipedia is neither academic nor personal use, and the image uploaded to Commons is not the thumbnail. The uploaded image (higher resolution, non-thumbnail) strictly requires explicit permission for any and all uses.
"This photo and associated text may not be used except with express written permission from California Native Plant Society. To obtain permission for personal, academic, commercial, or other uses, or to inquire about high resolution images, prints, fees, or licensing, or if you have other questions, contact California Native Plant Society njensen[AT]cnps.org."\\
The article says the image is used "courtesy of California Native Plant Society/Rick York," but the permission, again, is explicitly for the thumbnail. The thumbnail is in the article, but the uploaded image, which it clicks to on Wikipedia and Commons, is the higher resolution.
The image should be speedy deleted ASAP. The page is not created, using the recommended tag does not allow for a reason, then creates a page saying no reason for deletion is given. It's not followable.
Thanks for any assistance you can offer, particularly if you can just take care of the matter (if you know how) as I have to go to work in a few hours. --Blechnic (talk) 07:45, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh, thanks. I can figure most of Wikipedia out just by copying code from other pages, using categories from the previews, but this one was beyond me. So you did delete the page. I sorta figured out it had to be deleted on Commons, but I thought that was in addition. I created a Commons account so I can deal with the issue in the future. Very confusing. --Blechnic (talk) 01:07, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: your efforts to aid in deleting offensive material from editing history. I read others' comments before your final reply and wonder how one is supposed to protect the article (Heath Ledger) from continued abuse from vandals who use log-in identities. Please reply either here or in the Incident section discussion. (Going offline.) --NYScholar (talk) 04:30, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll take a shot at it. The only way to truly protect articles from vandals would be protecting the article from editing. The sad thing is though, that the belief behind Wikipedia is "the encyclopedia anyone can edit." This means that we as administrators should only use page protection as a last resort, where a certain article is getting consistent vandalism from many different IPs/users and it is no longer economical to just block the accounts. This leads to another way an article can be protected from vandals, is when a user/IP has vandalized and been warned, then they can be reported to WP:AIV where administrators will quickly review the situation and if necessary block the offending accounts. Another way to clean-up after vandalism is the use of deletion (what I did). This involves deleting the whole page, and then restoring all the revisions except those that have offensive edit summaries. Hopefully this process will be easier in the future when the developers implement single-revision deletion, where admins can delete just one revision, instead of deleting the whole page. Another clean-up method is oversight, which is the technical ability to hide certain revisions from the view of basically everyone on Wikipedia. This is only used in cases where the comments are potentially libelous, or where personal, identifiable information is released, or in other last-resort cases. There are also other technical ways to help prevent vandalism, but per WP:BEANS it is best not to release that. I hope I have answered your question. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) 04:43, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Template:EAgamesT

So this needs to be taken to TfD? It's a template for a WikiProject that itself was CSD'd. Wouldn't that satisfy g6? (Same goes for Template:WW EAgames) xenocidic (talk) 19:04, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Since you're open to trout-slapping, I thought you might be the best to ask about this one. It appears to have been created by a logged in user, for some reason (and is a copy of User:Godgiven Love). I think I'll just let sleeping dogs lie - I just wasn't sure if IP users were allowed to maintain such large userpages - especially when they weren't created by the IP itself. Cheers, xenocidic (talk) 22:25, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

No problem, I thought that everyone who has closed nominations should have a chance to decide. Please

Hi, thank you so much for offering your help, if you could do that i'd greatly appreciate it. I have no problems adding websites, are the websites i need to add things like - roster pages etc? I'll add a whole bunch of things - if i add them , is that my specified evidence? I'd love for you to do what you have offered for me, i can make changes to it and not be mad that it's been deleted.

Thanks again, i owe you one.

Kevizzle (talk) 09:10, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for giving me the page back. I've added a few links - the main link i wanted to add was a 1PW roster link, which, unfortunately is down. The 1PW site is running though, 1PW on wikipedia lists Juggernaught as an active wrestler. I added a roster page of another wrestling company he wrestle for, look at the wrestlers pics and you'll see him. The reason i linked 1PW was that if you search for him, you'll get results and the DVDs that are on sale, most feature him. Also added GPW match results - which you can see pics of him form April 4th. Is this sufficient enough evidence?

Thanks

Kev =]

Kevizzle (talk) 10:10, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Okay, fair enough. But can i have my page back please?

Just give me time and i can prove that The Juggernaught is worthy of being put in here - considering his partner is on here and Juggernaught's name is listed on the 1PW wikipedia as an active roster member.

Please, let me have the page back and i'll get back to you when i have the info.

Thanks

Kev

Speedy deletion of The Political Quarterly

Hi. I noticed that you speedy deleted The Political Quarterly under A7. I'm not sure A7 should have applied since the criteria state "A7 applies only to articles about web content or articles on people and organizations themselves, not articles on their books, albums, software and so on", and this is a journal after all. Moreover, I do think that the journal is important enough to have an article, although this may not have been clear from the existing article. Would you object to me writing a new article? Afghanistan

Hi! As I do not understand basically anything about how Wikipedia really works, I wonder whether I can be held responsible for the protection of Afghanistan (changed protection level for "Afghanistan" ‎(content dispute [edit=sysop:move=sysop])) [1]. Did I do something wrong when I rewrote Dari instead of Persian there and there, when I added this link or when I left a message to SwatiAfridi / Beh-nam / Tajik007?
What's more, I can't understand what sysop and protection (as I can't see any 'padlock' or warning anywhere) mean.
I'd have a couple of technical and some general questions to put [2], but I do not know whom to ask…

  1. ^ If so, I feel really sorry, I didn't mean to hurt the 'system' or anybody here.
  2. ^ For which I did not find answers in the Help pages.

Thanks forward for helping. ✓ Kanġi Oĥanko (talk) 22:35, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Many, many thanks for your answer.
I Already tried to put the questions I wanted to ask where you told me to do so, but either the answers came rather late (though I can understand that you administrators are really busy with a whole bunch of tasks) or never. The last example is just one of them. That's essentially why I (unsuccessfully) asked to be 'adopted'. I will ask you directly in the near future.
Have a nice time, wherever you live! ✓ Kanġi Oĥanko (talk) 23:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

The problem is I don't know how to control the background without messing up the font. Meet at template talk.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:38, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Replied there. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 03:39, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
I see you have reverted everything. You should have at least put a see also for the template that you pointed out.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:54, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
The problem is that half the boxes used the {{navbox}} and those were O.K. The other half used the {{CFB navbox}} and the font colors got messed up on those. I should have just done the half with the navbox. But yes the proper thing to do is to put a see also to the template you mentioned at the bottom. I think it is possible that if instead of using the code I just slapped the template in without all the below stuff it would have looked O.K. --TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 05:29, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

List of Steelers coaches

I revised the intro, maybe you take another look. I, suprisingly, cannot find an article about how Cowher/Noll were one of the longest (even the longest?) back-to-back coaching duos in sports. I agree that would be worth mentioning, but I won't add it until I find a source. I'm gonna add citations to the "awards" column now. Thanks! Blackngold29 15:21, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Kevin Hart (poet)

This article was stubbed and semi-protected by admin Hesperian, who seems to think he can read the minds of editors. By his own admission he knows nothing at all of the topic, yet he thinks he is qualified to make sound judgments concerning what is appropriate here. I request that the article by unprotected, that the stub be reverted, and that Hesperian be asked to stop abusing his authority.

Declined This is not the place to review administrators actions, nor am I going to revert the stubbing and protection of an
article because of WP:BLP concerns. Please take it to the protecting administrators talk page or the discussion page for the
article in question. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk ♦ contribs) @ 07:10, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I've done that. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Kevin_Hart_.28poet.29 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Hesperian/Archive_30#K_hart Hesperian has violated WP principles by stubbing and protecting an article that is not being vandalized. If you look at his/her talk page, you will see he/she has a long history of abusing the authority of the admin's position. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.155.14.119 (talkcontribs)

My main point is that WP:RFPP is not the right board to review administrative actions. I declined the protection because there was no need for it to be unprotected. WP:BLP is one of the most important policies on Wikipedia, and if an administrator stubs and protects an article because the article lacks neutrality enough to be a WP:BLP concern, that I nor any other administrator will undo the action. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 23:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
