The WikiProject Boston Celtics was formed on January 12, 2008 as a subproject of the NBA Project. Although the NBA is covered fairly well on Wikipedia, there is so much more that can be done! This project is dedicated to expanding the coverage of the Celtics on Wikipedia, including the history, records, statistics, players, coaches, and any other subject that is related to the Boston Celtics!
If you feel that you can have a positive contribution to the project, become a member by joining the list of members. If you don't know what to write or where to begin, or if you have doubts or ideas on how to improve an article, please address the project's discussion forum.

| Goals |
The project aims primarily to:
- Create and improve articles whose content is connected to the Boston Celtics organization.
- Set up consistent structural and graphical layouts for displaying information on these articles.
Other goals include:
- Bring as much content about theCeltics to featured status.
- Maintenance of the Basketball Portal.

| The Boston Celtics subproject was created as a team subproject of WikiProject National Basketball Association and a Child WikiProject of WikiProject Massachusetts on January 13, 2008. The NBA Project's Parent Wikiproject is WikiProject Sports, while the Massachusetts Project's Parent WikiProject is WikiProject United States. On March 6, 2008, the subproject became its own WikiProject, thus becoming a Child WikiProject of WikiProject National Basketball Association. |

| Categorize Celtics-related pages |
- Label project-untagged pages by adding the {{WikiProject Boston Celtics}} template banner to their talk page. Tagged pages are automatically listed under a namespace-specific category (Cat:WikiProject Boston Celtics (RC's).)
- Help assessing tagged pages by defining the quality parameters, on the template banner, such as the class (completeness status) and interest to the project.
