Gonzalo Javier Rodríguez (born April 10, 1984 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine footballer, currently playing in Spain for Villarreal since 2004.
He is a central defender and who started his professional career at Argentina's first division San Lorenzo in 2002.
Rodríguez played for the Argentina national football team between 2003 and 2005, he also represented the Argentina Under-20 at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.
In August 2006, Gonzalo suffered an injury, tearing the cruciate ligament in his right knee. After returning to activity in April 2007, he suffered the same injury on June 2007.[1]
He has since returned from this injury and has been in good form. He has formed a good defensive partnership with Godín.
