[edit] History
Founded as Gonzaga High School in 1887 in the basement of the Gonzaga University administrative building. The campus is currently located several miles away from its original home at Gonzaga University in a building dating back to 1951 (although extensively remodeled in the late 1990s)[citation needed]. The school lies in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Spokane and is administered separately from the University.
Gonzaga Preparatory School was also the first Jesuit school in the country to have a lay president, John Traynor.
