Talk:Godmoding
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm going to edit the example in the Godmodding for Personal Gain section to make it less ambiguous and make B's post a bit more valid.

[edit] Page Overhaul
I've reworked the entire page (it wasn't very good, hopefully it's better and without superfluous examples). It could probably do with some citations or references at the least, but I'm confident that the information is accurate. I would suggest a link to the NSWiki, but I don't know whether that would be appropriate. I've also applied to have the page moved to the correct spelling (godmodding is actually a misspelling of godmoding, which is derived from the noun god mode, and hence the verb "to godmode"). --163.1.165.116 04:47, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Greater clarity
(A small point but I feel this article should be as clear as possible.) While I think the example for controlling another's character is good, I think it might be better to clarify A's action. Currently, "Character A punches Character B". This itself is an example of godmoding: it assumes that the punch connects and that Character B is punched. Unless this is the intention - and I don't feel it should be - I would suggest altering the example to read: "Character A throws a punch at Character B". Tormentress 13:53, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unnecessary section
Given the concise section on 'Passive Godmoding', I'd say the 'Powermodding And/Or Autoing' section is unnecessary. Indeed, as it stands, the latter section contains poor grammar, what appear to be unreferenced and subjective opinions and little new information. I would be in favour of scrapping the section and, if necessary, adding further to the 'Passive Godmoding' section. Tormentress 14:36, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Merging with Online Text based RPG or God Mode
I don't see why this article should be merged with either of the suggested articles. Nobody has made any arguments for the merger here. This form of godmoding or godmodding is not the same as the "god mode" found in video games. Godmodding, as listed here, applies to freeform RPGs (such as play by post games) and not to a cheat code of any kind. It is a piece of terminology that mainly applies to RPGs but could easily be used in other contexts as well. Whoever feels it should be merged should give a reason why. --Frugen 23:13, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] English, but which one?
This page contains the word "manoeuvre" (which is British) and "dishonorable (which is American). Which spelling should we normalize to? (No edit war, please!) --NetRolller 3D 12:21, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
