[edit] Spanish name
Okay... no... not working! Gila Bend may often be pronounced something like /ˈχiˌla ˈbɛn/ in Spanish, but the name is written in Spanish texts almost invariably as "Gila Bend". Just as we don't write "Guhir" for "Goodyear" or "Cuin Cric" for "Queen Creek", "Apachillanchan" for "Apache Junction", "Macahí" for "Buckeye", or "Calle Ruzvel" instead of "Calle Roosevelt", we don't write "Gila Ben" for "Gila Bend". Okay? --Node 00:46, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Makes perfect sense to me; I always thought that looked wrong. Thanks for the correction! Karen | Talk | contribs 00:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Come to think of it, though, that was probably meant to be a pronunciation rather than a spelling. Still, I have no preference as to whether it should be here. Seems like a pretty minor distinction from the English pronunciation, which borrows from Spanish in the first place. Karen | Talk | contribs 00:57, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
