The Gibson Steps are an area of cliffs on the south coast of Australia, located at . The cliffs are the first sightseeing stopoff in Port Campbell National Park for travellers heading West along the Great Ocean Road, located about 5 minutes drive away from The Twelve Apostles. The name Gibson Steps refers to the staircase leading down to the stretch of beach shown to the right.
[edit] Change of conditions
Due to a recent risk analysis, access to Gibson Steps will be closed to all persons until further notice. The decision has been made on the basis of an engineering report that found there is an unacceptable level of risk to visitors at the site. The risk is from potential collapse of the cliff directly onto the steps. Any attempt to access this beach is not recommended.[1]
