[edit] Date of Death

  • Can a Dutch speaker help out here, please? DirkvdM, come on down.
  • Reve's precise date of death is not apparent (to me) from any of the references cited. There's a Canadian posting dated 8 April, so 9 April is the latest possible date. But who knows how long it took for the news to get out?
  • Also, we show him at both 8 April and 9 April at Deaths in 2006#April 2006. So, there seems to be some doubt. JackofOz 08:36, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Ah, thank you very much. JackofOz 08:57, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fact checking

Infamous for breaking[citation needed] a rather archaic Dutch law against blasphemy in 1966, Gerard Reve was prosecuted for a piece of prose that describes the narrator's love-making to God, incarnated in a three year old donkey.

I tagged the above because it seems to imply he was guilty of breaking a law, and yet the german wiki article states he won the case (gewann den Prozess), and gives a cite:

Reve berief sich auf sein Recht, in seiner Literatur sein persönliches Gottesbild darzustellen und gewann den Prozess.[1]

I rephrased it.--Patrick (talk) 13:44, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
