[edit] Article should be expanded and renamed

This fellow was the overseas Governor of both the northern and southern departments of the HBC lands for many historically important years and has been referred to as the little emperor or Viceroy of much of what is now Canada and a part of US territory. I intend to expand the article but really think referring to him as (administrator) is not representative of his role. James Douglas (governor) and John McLoughlin, and in fact the whole of the Hudson's Bay Company were under his supervision. Everyone in North America reported to him and he reported to the Governor and Council of the HBC in Britain. I propose renaming this George Simpson (governor) but seek input. He was never the actual Governor of the HBC, a position that remained in Britain throughout but was the Governor of Ruperts Land before the merger with the NW Company and, then of the Northern Department and, after a few years the Southern Department as well. Comments on what to rename this are invited. --KenWalker | Talk 01:43, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
