[edit] Name change?
Was the show originally called "The George Lopez Show" before changing to the current name, "George Lopez"? I ask because every current reference I can find, including ABC.com and IMDb, to which this article's link points, calls it simply "George Lopez." (IMDb does say the working title was "The George Lopez Show," but that's not a basis for naming the article if it was not the name when the show premiered.)
If there was a name change, then we should mention it, but we should considering renaming the article and adding a disambiguation page to distinguish the star from his show. If it was never the name, then we absolutely need to change the name; naturally, we would have a redirect from "The George Lopez Show," since that's a common understanding of the name.Lawikitejana 19:45, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Update: Another editor has since made the change to the article title. Lawikitejana 19:16, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] C'mon, NOTHING about what the show is about?
Being pressed for time at the moment, I'm going to settle for the moment for a list of what I think the article needs, so that if others are so inclined, they can start filling in the gaps.
- Summary of the main characters and family relationships. I don't mean just "Benny is George's mother," which is already taken care of by the cast list. We need an encapsulated version of recurring conflicts and themes, character details and back story, etc.
- Summary of major episodes and story arcs. I remember an early episode had George discovering that his birth father had sold George's birth certificate to someone else; can't think of anywhere else I've seen that storyline. We tuned in last week and George was not living at home due to his mother having moved in. I missed the first few minutes, but had the definite impression that this had been going on in previous episodes.
- Information about connections between the people in the life of George Lopez the Character and people in the life of George Lopez the Actor/Comedian. For example, Benny is constantly commenting on George's supposedly oversized head, something that his autobiographical accounts say was a habit of the grandmother who brought him up.
- Any references out there that show impact of the actual show over the last few years. The present stub of an article doesn't tell us anything about the show that we didn't know before it aired, other than the time slots.
- I'm going to add two Trivia items, but that's not going to do the trick by itself. Lawikitejana 19:54, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] IMDB
Why does IMDB say that George Lopez has only been in 10 episodes. -- Beardo 08:35, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- This problem may since have been updated, but usually it stems from the fact that a couple of years ago, IMDb switched the style of its cast listings for TV shows. Each episode has its own cast list, and the default is now to assume that a given actor did not appear in an episode until someone takes the time to confirm for each episode that the actor in question did appear. So at the time this question was posed, no one had gotten around to confirming Lopez' appearance in the show for each episode beyond those ten. By now it's surely been fixed. [edit] Longest running sitcom with Latino Actors
I Love Lucy ran from 1951-1957, and starred Desi Arnez, a Cuban-American. I changed the line in the intro paragraph to reflect this. (But I forgot to log in first). - Aaronwinborn 02:57, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Runners up of long-running sitcoms with Hispanic actors: Chico and the Man and Welcome Back, Kotter come to mind. Any other suggestions? Dogru144 23:23, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Whoops, "Juan Epstein" was played by a Hungarian-Italian-American. Dogru144 23:25, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Note, this is one of the reasons why OR is always a bad idea. Unless a reliable source has noted something then editors generally should not add it themselves based on what they think they know, as they can often be wrong. Of course, reliable sources make mistakes as well, but it's a lot rarer then random wikipedians Nil Einne (talk) 20:17, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The picture in the infobox
The picture that is currently in the article still shows Masiela Lusha, who has been written out of the show as of this season. Also, Max (Luis Armand Garcia) looks noticeably older now. I think that we should move it down into the article's history section (as a picture of the cast from last season) and replace the picture in the infobox with an updated one showing the show's current cast. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 01:54, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Information
should it be mentioned that Vic is a cardiologist (episode: A Clear and Presentless Danger)And Richard, might I ask why you keep deleting the information I put in the character section? I think Benny's job is notable. Everyoneandeveryone (talk) 18:33, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Accurate Information
Is this information accurate?
'George later finds out he has a sister, Linda Lorenzo who was his ex girlfriend who he had a child with, who Benny gave away. George goes to visit her and gets her pregnant again and divorces angie in season 7 but after discovering she doesn't know she is adopted and has a successful life, decides not to tell her about their relation and leaves. In a later episode, however, George accidentally reveals they are siblings.

Definitely not true. Plus, there never was a season 7. George did find that he had a sister that Benny had given away, but he didn't have any kind of relationship with her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.55.43.141 (talk) 18:26, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
And George and Angie never divorced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.218.10.195 (talk) 05:03, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Article title
This should not have been moved to The George Lopez Show, certainly not without discussion. There is nothing even remotely official suggesting that "The George Lopez Show" is the correct title and plenty to suggest that "George Lopez" is. Tromboneguy0186 (talk) 08:09, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
