State Route 240 is a northwest-southeast state route located in the west-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. From the route's southern terminus at State Route 26 in Fountainville, the route runs north, then west, intersecting U.S. Route 19/State Route 3 at the community of Murrays Crossroads. The route then continues west-northwest to the community of Tazewell, where it intersects State Route 137 before continuing north. Just north of Tazewell, the route intersects the southern terminus of its banner route, State Route 240 Connector. After making a turn to the northwest, the route intersects State Route 127 before continuing northwest to its northern terminus at State Route 96 in Geneva.
