Galhinna is a beautiful village situated in Kandy Distric in the Central Province of Sri Lanka., with a population around 10,000- 15,000 and known for its green tea plantations. The majority of the people here are Muslims surrounded by Sinhala and Tamil villages.
Galhinna is home to the Al Manar Central College; one of the famous public school, established in 1934. The school provides education for about 1500 pupils from Elementary to GCE-O/L and A/L Classes.
The Galhinna Grand Mosque is another important place in the village as the main religious place, with the Islamic Madrasa it has been one of the wealthiest institutions in Sri Lanka for the past two centuries. The grand mosque in the village is one of the olderst in srilanka ,pupulation got approximately 90% of literacy level . The village got 7 Small mosques is only for Locals.The Katheeb Name is MOULAVI Ismail AALIM had the Great impact on the Religious services.
In this village, an area called KATTAPPU is the well developed in education, religion and cultural Aspects. They Play an important role in All Aspects in the Village They are the first immigrants to the villge as per the historical Records.
