Gachibowli is a major IT suburb of Hyderabad. It is situated about 5 km away from HITEC City, another IT hub.
Earlier, the area was only known for the presence of the University of Hyderabad. The area transformed into a modern business hub in the past 5 years. Due to the ongoing development, the real estate prices have increased tremendously.

Gachibowli has grown into a software hub for companies operating out of Hyderabad. It is home to premier IT companies like the Microsoft IDC (largest development center outside US), Wipro, Computer Associates, Infosys, Polaris, NVIDIA, CMC etc. There are International banking insitutions such as the Franklin Templeton, Union Bank of Switzerland, Bank of America have made their home here. The area is growing at a very fast pace. A new IT SEZ by DLF is also coming up in this area.

Gachibowli is also a center of education with famous institutions such as the Indian School of Business, and the University of Hyderabad formerly known as Central University spread over acres of land, providing top class education.
The International Institute of Information Technology(IIIT) is a well known center for excellence in technology. IIIT also houses the Oracle school of Advanced software technology, IBM School of enterprise wide Computing, E-Governance National Institute of Smart Governance.

Apart from the IT industry, Gachibowli is also a sports hub. Some of the best stadiums in the city are located here. The GMC Athletic stadium, a world class Hockey stadium and an Indoor stadium are located here. The recently held Military World games were conducted here at Gachibowli and many more. A beautiful Golf course with natural rock formations has come up here recently.

Gachibowli is well connected by roads to another IT hub, the HITEC city, and also to the rest of the city. APSRTC buses, no 216, 217 connects Gachibowli to Mehdipatnam and Koti, the major city centers.
The closest MMTS Train station is at HITEC city, 4 km away.
The Outer-Ring Road is slated to connect Gachibowli to the upcoming International airport at Shamshabad.
A metro train service is also being planned in Hyderabad, which would provide better connectivity and provide another public transport for commuters.
