Fulda University of Applied Sciences (officially named Hochschule Fulda - University of Applied Sciences), former known as Fachhochschule Fulda, was founded as the fifth state Fachhochschule in Hesse in 1974.

Established in 1971, the college is part of the University of Applied Sciences Gießen, until it got its own location for future studies in 1974. In 2006, the college was renamed Hochschule Fulda - University of Applied Sciences due to the Bologna process. Students at the college can now obtain accredited Bachelor and Master degrees. According to European standards now also Fachhochschulen in Germany are authorized to admit into the Höhere Dienst and for a Doctorate.
