I noticed that you added a list of these to the list of state parks. Could you add a source for that to the article? I was never able to find a list of the forests myself. Rmhermen 17:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

I also noticed this, but didn't get a chance to look into it enough to form an intelligent question. I think that many of the items added to the list should be identified as State Forest Camp Sites or State Forest Campgrounds. I don't think they are necessarily "state forests" by themselves. older ≠ wiser 13:59, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Snake scales

Hey there, Frankie816. I saw your edits to a couple of viper articles (they're on my watchlist). That's fine with my, but just make sure you know what you're doing. For example, in Eristicophis you wlinked "nasorostral" to Ocular (scale). That is incorrect. In reptiles, the nasorostral is the enlarged, usually paired, scale just behind the rostral scale. It corresponds to the mental scale on the lower jaw (Mallow et al., 2003).
Actually, if you're really interested in snake scales, you could give User:AshLin a hand. He's created a relatively new article, Snake scales. It contains general information, but it also links to a number of smaller articles with information with information on specific scales. This all needs to be expanded, plus it would be great if diagrams and pictures were added to them as well. Eventually, it would be nice to link all of the scale info in the viper articles to those individual snake scale articles, but considering their current embryonic state, it may as yet be a little early for that. --Jwinius 19:40, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sydney suburbs = Towns of New South Wales?

Are you sure all those suburbs of Sydney you're tagging as Towns in New South Wales are in fact towns? Last time I visited Randwick, New South Wales it was considered a suburb of Sydney and not a town unto itself. -- Longhair\talk 01:20, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

There's a government published gazette of place names online defining towns and cities of Australia. I can't seem to find it right now but it's definitely available. Suburbs in Australia aren't really considered a town as such. I assumed you were local Aussie :) -- Longhair\talk 01:34, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
If you are going to make major changes, pLease do some research if you are familiar with the topic you are dealing with. Removing "towns" from Sydney suburbs is a lot of reverting. "Sort of considering" is not really good enough IMO. (and others might start grumbling about Americans once again "assuming" (to use your words) that the whole world is just like America - but i wouldn't grumble about that, I am too polite). [1] :-) But i suppose categorising all NSW towns (ie, out of metro areas) is a good thing as long as it is done correctly. I am surprised it hasn't been done before. Actually, I've just noticed, those that are Sydney suburbs are already categorised as such. So as you do the towns, just make sure it's not a SYdney (or other city's) suburb. :)Merbabu 01:52, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Geoscience Australia has their Place Name Search (formerly known as the Gazetteer) but this only defines locations such as towns or suburbs as "Bounded Localities". This is irrelevant though as the Geographical Geographical Names Board of New South Wales is the official body with juristiction over place names in NSW and they also offer a name search. This does distinguish a suburb as distinct from other geographical features such as towns, which puts the issue to bed. Frankie816... it's been said, but it would be a really good idea to check with a local before making hundreds of changes based on a premise that does not apply to this region. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rob.au (talk • contribs) 05:25, 27 December 2006 (UTC).
A rough test (but by no means comprehensive) is the postcode (check on http://www.auspost.com or in the article) - if it is between 2000 and 2234, it is almost definitely a suburb (and is safe to assume it is). If it is not, it is far less likely to be (some exceptions exist - anything around 2550-2560 or 2760-2770 should be checked). Low 2500s are suburbs of Wollongong, anything between 2250 and 2320 could be a suburb of Newcastle or the Central Coast. Anything else is probably a town. There are some notable exceptions but that covers about 98% of cases. Orderinchaos78 09:57, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Most of the articles about islands in Australia are organised into subcategories within Category:Islands of Australia according to States and Territories. As these are subcategories within Cat:Islands of Aust, there isn't a need to put them in both. It will result in the parent category being very cluttered. You have added some inappropriate links in Tangail article.But most them of are in red link and there is no need to keep those red links. Some of them indicates the Indian cities (e.g.Madhupur, Mirzapur and Gopalpur) which are not relevant to the Tangail article. Thank you nahid Talk 2007-01-21

  • I am writing regarding your addition of links to the villages in the Khanlar Rayon article on 17 January 2007. While those listed are important villages, as opposed to the dozen or so other unlisted villages, it is unlikely that they will have (or need) a Wikipedia article on their own.
