[edit] Biography
Born in Suffolk in 1909,[3] Frank Simpson made his first-class cricket debut in August 1931, playing for the Army against the MCC at Lord's[4] as a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler.[3]
He played two matches for the Straits Settlements against the Federated Malay States in 1938 and 1939[5] before serving in World War II, serving with distinction in Normandy after the D-day landings. He was eventually awarded the Distinguished Service Order and an OBE.[6]
