Foxcote is a very small village located to the east of Shoscombe in the civil parish of Hemington. It is about 8 miles (13 km) miles south west from Bath. and 6 miles (10 km) miles north west of Frome. It is mostly residential.
The church is dedicated to St. James the less, which dates from the early 18th century and incorporates a 15th century turret. It has been designated by English Heritage as a grade II* listed building.[1]
It was on the route of the Somerset and Dorset Railway and was the site, on 7th August 1876 of a collision between the Wimborne to Bath train and one traveling from Bath to Radstock. The crash also known as the Radstock rail accident left 13 people killed and 51 injured.[2]
It is just off the route of NCR 24 the colliers way.
