There was a programme titled "Highland Empire" recently (2007-05-20) on the BBC that centres around Fort William's role in the history of Canada, the North West and Hudson Bay companies and the history of the "métis", and the involvement of Scots emigrees in the history of Canada. Director Mark Littlewood, produced for BBC Scotland by Pelicula Films Ltd, 2007. With the BBC's increasing moves to open it's archives for public use, there is an increasing chance of this programme becoming generally available.
