[edit] General comments
Nice idea this page, but we should be careful! Please, please, please let's not make this an exhaustive list of every single minor livery chage that ever happened ever to any car, season by season. I have formatted the Lotus list as I see the format evolving, I don't know if you agree? A few summary points:
- List should be tabulated according to every time the livery changes, by which I mean a significant change in the colour palette used, not just when a sponsor changes typeface!
- Only major secondary sponsors should be listed (i.e. those with a substantial logo e.g. a whole wing/sidepod etc.), there being generally only one or two in any one season.
- Please always bear in mind that we are a general encyclopedia, not an F1 trivia bank, that's what ChicaneF1 is for! So keep information readable, well formatted and interesting!

[edit] Williams
I know I'm a bit backwards, but I genuinely have no idea how to edit the contents. If anyone finds this message before I figure it out please add Williams on there for me, then delete this message. Thanks!

- Looks like you worked it out. DH85868993 (talk) 21:22, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Does it happen automatically? That seemed very quick. Chippyminton91 (talk) 20:03, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- No, this page is on my watchlist and I just happened to be online when you added the comment. DH85868993 (talk) 01:54, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Inconsistent column titles
In some tables, the title of the fourth column is "Main sponsor(s)"; in others it's "Livery sponsor(s)". Assuming that the column title should be the same for all the tables, which is the preferred option? DH85868993 (talk) 11:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think there is and should be a difference. Some teams have a livery which is fully decided by the sponsors and have the sponsor's color as the main color of the car. There, the sponsor is a real livery sponsor. For others, like Ferrari and BMW, the sponsors have never fully taken over the design of the livery. Then the sponsor is a main sponsor.
- The main reason for this list is however not to list sponsors but to list the color shemes of the cars in different seasons, so the cars in old images may be easier to identify. That was the reason I created the page in the first place. I haven't done much to it since then but am glad to see that others have been working on it. John Anderson (talk) 14:07, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Renault F1
I added the first stint of Renault as an F1 team from 1977-1985. I didn't mentioned that Renault was an engine supplier in 1986 and from 1989 and onwards cause this article is about teams and nothing else.
When looking at the pictures from the 70's and 80's of a Renault F1 car I can only distinguish ONE major sponsor in ELF. Michelin is dotted here and there, but I don't know if they count as a secondary sponsor. Kaiketsu (talk) 18:19, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Formatting idea
At the moment, the large number of images is making the article look very cluttered. Would it be cleaner to use the <gallery></gallery> format under each section instead?--Diniz(talk) 19:45, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- I think that's a good idea, especially for teams which have had several quite distinct liveries over the years, e.g Jordan, Lotus, McLaren, Williams, etc. For teams that only had one major colour scheme and/or where we only have one suitable photo, e.g. Prost and Red Bull, I'd probably just leave the current format, rather than have a gallery with one photo in it.
