Flag of Chuvashia

The main charge of the flag of Chuvashia is a stylized tree of life, a symbol of rebirth, with the three suns, a traditional emblem popular in Chuvash art. Deep red stands for the land, the golden yellow for prosperity.

Earlier (ca. 1992-1997) depictions abroad, even in technical vexillological articles, shown purple instead of (dark) red, due to misinterpretation of Russian "пурпурный" (purpurnij) [1].
