Talk:First Epistle to the Thessalonians
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I thought 1 Corinthians was considered the first Pauline epistle, and that 1 Thessalonians is perhaps not even Pauline. Perhaps that is old Easton Bible Dictionary information... Zach (wv) (t) 22:03, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
- Easton says "The first epistle to the Thessalonians was the first of all Paul's epistles". — Mark (Mkmcconn) ** 20:03, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Themes
One of the more notable and controversial topics of 1 Thessalonians is the treatment of Christians by "the Jews", who are said to have attempted to prevent the preaching of salvation to the Gentiles. Consequently it doesn't strike me as very accurate to say 1 Thessalonians does not focus on justification by faith or questions of Jewish-gentile relations, unless Wikipedia is going to presumptively adopt the position that the end of chapter 2 is inserted into the letter. — Mark (Mkmcconn) ** 20:03, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
