[edit] Sock Puppets
Stop creating sock puppets for your AFD for Dukey. It is a big no-no. ---J.Smith 06:07, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- I have not created sock puppets, I have not voted on the AFD, and indeed I have never edited the article in question. I was asked by David_VI to clarify a point in the AFD, and I did so. FiggyBee 06:18, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Guild of Play, Guild of the Poor Brave Things
Thanks for flagging the issues. I was working too fast, and wikied the artcles thinking I had also edited them. Mea culpa.
The articles themselves contain infomration thatwoudl leave a significant gap if they vanished (the reason I created them, albeit poorly) in the first place.
If you check revision history you will see that they have now been edited throroughly. This is flagged on each article's discussion page, too.
If you think any further edits are required let's work together to get them right rather than leave two gaps.
I think wiki etiquette is now that you, if satisfied, removed the speedy delete tag? My suggestion is that you remove it anyway since you can always reinstate it, and we discuss any outstanding issues.

[edit] Rufus Barr's page
I hadn't finished updating it FiggyBee.
I urge you to look again and notice that I do IN FACT, meet the requirements. I will thank you to refrain from conversing with me directly again. Stop trying to play Wiki God and perhaps find a life. Also, get your facts right, pal. Rufus Barr is not me, he is an entirely different person, but as he is my favourite comedian and I am yet to see anything about him up here, he deserves a page. Just because you've never heard of him, doesn't mean he isn't well known.
Thank you and good day. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fufus84 (talk • contribs) 02:22, 17 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] The Shiny Diamonds controversy
Hi FiggyBee, this is Leigh... the guy who created The Shiny Diamonds controversy article. I thought I'd let you know that I am certainly not Tim, nor am I in the Band "the Shiny Diamonds". In fact I don't even really like their music. I'm simply a guy who did a Wikipedia search on them after I read a really good article by David Segal in the Washington Post. It seems to me that many people (bloggers in particular) are doing the same thing. Only when we get to Wikipedia we find that the information we want has been deleted! How sad is that. I'm fundamentally against deleting information that people want. Do you know of any way to find out how many people do a Wikipedia search on "The Shiny Diamonds"? Thank you. Leigh8959 15:01, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Leigh. I didn't mean to suggest you, the creator of the article, were Tim; my comment was in reference to quotes from the Post article. While I am generally an inclusionist, I also don't think wiki should become a collection of indiscriminate information, and having articles based solely on a single op-ed piece in a newspaper (even if those op-eds are about wikipedia) seems a bit over the top. There's no (verifiable) information the wiki article could contain that's not in the original Post article.
- Anyway, to answer your question, I think it is possible to find out how many views a given article has, since there are scripts [1] that show the top 100 pages. I wouldn't know how to get the stats for a particular page though, and I don't think that knowing how many views the page has would be worthwhile anyway, as popularity is not a reason for keeping the article, and the numbers are likely to be inflated greatly by the fact it is listed at AfD. [edit] 911 Conspiracy Theories/Alternative Theories
Why dont we focus on identifying individual points of objection at Talk:9/11_conspiracy_theories#Why_dont_the_Oppose_and_Agree_camps.3F instead of having long winded debates that cover 2 or 3 subjects The we we know everyones objections either way, we can work out a compromise on each point with a view to reaching a consensus. Hi, FiggyBee. Thanks for adding your opinion, but I'm afraid the only reason I did it the way I did is because I'm not all that familiar with how Wikipedia's more intricate edits work. Frankly, I don't have a clue. About 90% of the history on the page is everything I've added and a couple of vandalisms or innappropriate remarks that I've removed. If you know how to make the changes and would like to do so, please feel free to go right ahead. Gamer Junkie 01:03, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, I am doing that now. :) Cheers, FiggyBee 01:05, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again. Good to see it's all taken care of. I was actually in the process of typing a message for you asking if you'd maybe forgotten. Looks like you haven't though. Cheers. Gamer Junkie 10:22, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey there. Don't take my replacing your speedy personally. I'd rather that nonsense went down the right way than having it survive on a technicality. G1 specifically excludes hoaxes, so I didn't want to take any chance. :-) Coren 03:54, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blanking User:Michael Shrimpton
I see you blanked User:Michael Shrimpton as a BLP violation. I'm pretty sure the page was created by Michael himself, which you can fairly easily verify yourself. As it is a user page, it typically contains a biography of that user. Mine is one such example. I'm restoring the content. Maury 20:18, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- I notice there was some vandalism at the end of the page that suggests it was not written in the first-person. Removed. Maury 20:22, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
-
- Well, I did check the history of the page and none of it was written by User:Michael Shrimpton. Even if it is his own work, it's hardly a typical user biography, and I'd say it fails points 2,3,4, 5 and 7 of WP:SELFPUB. However, it's not something I feel strongly about, so I'll bow to your judgement. :) FiggyBee 08:03, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ray_ellington.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ray_ellington.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 16:32, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Fnspr.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Fnspr.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:53, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] de Havilland Gipsy Moth
I have been expanding this article and working on format and references. A user on the talk page proposed to rename the article de Havilland DH.60 Moth which I think is very sensible as then all the variants of the DH.60 (Moth, Gipsy Moth, Cirrus Moth, Hermes Moth, Genet Moth, Metal Moth etc) can be included but I see that this article name has been used for a single variant. There has been similar discussion on that article talk page. A discussion on this can be viewed at [2] where it has been been recommended that the content of de Havilland Gipsy Moth and de Havilland DH.60 Moth be preserved and merged in to the latter article. With many variants it is clear that the DH.60 is a series of the same basic type that can be covered in one article. I have been asked as a courtesy to inform involved editors in case there are strong objections. Many thanks.Nimbus227 (talk) 00:32, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Yes but....
If I write my question on the talk page of these boys ... I will have 0 answers. I don't know if you are right. I think I can want to debate on reference desk page. I'm sure you are a fan of Iran and that you hate my country Israel. You are an Anti-Semite. Ahmed987147 (talk) 06:25, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- You can want to debate on the Refdesk, but it says in big letters up the top Do not start debates or post diatribes. The reference desk is not a soapbox. Sorry. If you want to get more people to the discussion, look through the article's history and find people who might be interested, then post on their user talks. Or maybe you can find wp:wikiprojects which would be interested. FiggyBee (talk) 13:20, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] What shall we do to clean up the Dunny Discussion Page?
First off, thank you very much for teaching me about Disambiguation. The Jim Smith example was very helpful. I was looking over the discussion you proposed on whether to merge Dunny/Munny under Kidrobot and realized that my side talk on the making of the page was probably getting in the way of the main goal of the discussion page. It seems the goal was to discuss the shift. Shall we erase the discussion we had so that we can free that space up for the intended discussion? Is this talk page the appropriate place to ask this? Thank you for bearing with me on this learning, editing, and history making adventure.Humboldtbettie (talk) 09:57, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's no problem just leaving our conversation there; sometimes conversations get sidetracked, and there's no lack of space for other discussions. FiggyBee (talk) 13:14, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] I'm really sorry
I have been agressive when I said: You are an Anti-Semite and yo are a fan of Iran. I'm Israeli and I hate Iran, for this I thought that you were defending Iran when you removed my question from the reference desk. Forgive me, I'm not agressive. I'm sorry. OK?. Forgive me. [edit] Dunny (Slang)
Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Dunny (Slang), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello. Can you confirm that you are Francis Gary Powers Jr.? I have added a template to the article's talk page to that effect, but I'd like to make sure. FiggyBee (talk) 04:16, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gary Powers
Hi,
I've reverted your changes to the Gary Powers article - firstly, because such a rename should be discussed first, and secondly because simply cutting-and-pasting the article is not the correct way to move an article, as it loses the page history. FiggyBee (talk) 20:43, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- I counter that I am correcting a major oversight that has already been discussed in the article... Check-Six (talk) 02:46, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

- I wasn't disputing the move so much as the way it was moved. The article had now been moved correctly by user:Parsecboy... FiggyBee (talk) 08:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
