Hello,
The previous version of this article was largely copied, word for word, from book by Cesati cited at the end. This can get the Wikipedia into legal trouble, so I've removed all the plagiarized material and replaced it with my own prose.
My sources are partly Cesati (which I got from the library), and partly the references used for the article Bartolomeo Cristofori.

I think it is improper to call him "the third". He never ruled. I think that the author should change the title of the article.

Hello Opus33, Silvano is right, Ferdinando never ruled, and so he never was called the Ferdinando III. He was a prince and never a duke. Please look at the corresponding Italian Wikipedia sites. You can expect they know what was going on in Florence: like it:Elenco dei Signori di Toscana and it:Ferdinando de' Medici.
But, this person was called Ferdinand III, Grand Duke of Tuscany!
Written sources are not always right, you should always check, and double check. Also the German Wikipedia was wrong, probably because of you. I changed his name and the link there. (I ended up somewhere late in the 18th century). Just common sense, be clever and change the title. A dutchman Taksen 07:45, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
I between I changed the title, and improved a few more mistakes in the lemmas on his father and uncle. I did not expect the English Wikipedians do not check the Italian and German Wikipedia to compare and get more information on the subject. Please improve my language if necessary.
