[edit] POV

I put a POV check on this. The following especially: "problem", the wording of "illegal immigrants... day laborers", and "solution". I hope to be able to fix it up myself within a week or so, but I encourage anyone else to do so if they can. Steve McLinden 08:50, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

I edited it, how's this for now? -- KneeLess 03:22, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Good job. I live here, Feel free to ask me question haha. The "attempted murder" of two illegal immigrants was a friend of mine's friend. His actions were foolish and immature to say the least. It was a few years ago, I believe he threw I firework into their house.

While I do live here, I promise to maintain a neutral point of view when editing this article. (In response to the neutrality check)DeadAlmighty 00:50, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

I have removed the POV tag from this article, as it looks fine to me, and the previous problems seem to have been fixed to the satisfaction of the Talk page. I have, however, replaced the rag with a "Unreferenced" tag as sources have not been cited. -Seidenstud 05:12, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Issues with the Community Activism section

This article is misleading as it implies that Sachem Quality of Life was created in response to the attempted murder of two immigrants. Sachem Quality of Life was prior to that incident in an attempt to address the "quality of life" issues raised by day-labors lining up at local businesses. I take issue with only one of the activism groups (Sachem Quality of Life) being referenced (especially since it has been labeled as a hate group by multiple sources). If you are going to bring up activism groups there should be a reference to the other prominent group, Brookhaven Citizens for Peaceful Solutions.

"While day laborer supporters have proposed building a site to shelter the workers."

The way it is currently phrased, it can be construed as it was a purposed that would create housing for the workers. If terminology such as hiring site/hall were used this could be clarified. There was a proposal to build a hiring site for workers to gather. This was purposed by persons who were attempting to address the "quality of life" issue that was created by large numbers of men (over a hundred) from congregating in front of local businesses, not by "day laborer supporters." There were few day laborer supporters in the community and none of them were prominent in the media (with the possible except of Rev. Allen Ramirez who had nothing to do with this proposal). The community wanted something done to get them off the streets. Sachem Quality of life sought to do this through mass deportations and Brookhaven Citizens for Peaceful Solutions purposed to get this done by building a place of them to go if they want work - a hiring site. Everyone wanted the same thing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Expired milk (talk • contribs) 04:21, 12 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Removal of life in town section

I removed this entire section since it completely violated WP:POV and WP:NOR. The section was also poorly written and did not contribute any note worthy information to the article since the entire section was all based on someone's opinion. Noneforall (talk) 07:55, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
