Explorer 33 (IMP-D) was an unsuccessful attempt to launch a satellite for research of the magnetic field in the lunar orbit. It was launched on July 1st, 1966, but reached because of a rocket failure only an earth orbit with a perigee of 265679 km and an apogee of 480762 km.
