Exotic Creatures of the Deep is the twenty-first album by Sparks. It was preceded by the single "Good Morning" on May 12th. [1]

The album was promoted by a record-setting twenty date residency from May 16 to June 11 at London's Carling Islington Academy where the group played each one of their previous twenty albums in its entirety in chronological order. Exotic Creatures Of The Deep was premièred on June 13 at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Some early controversy was caused by the song "Lighten Up, Morrissey". Rumours abounded that the song was an attack on Morrissey - formerly a member of The Smiths. "Sparks have refuted speculation that a new song attacks Morrissey. '"Lighten Up, Morrissey" is actually about a man who is unlucky in love, because his girlfriend doesn't think he'll ever match up to Moz'. [2]
