Whomp That Sucker is the tenth album by Sparks.
Beginning with this album and continuing through 1988's Interior Design, the Mael brothers worked with three backing musicians who also recorded on their own under the name Gleaming Spires: guitarist Bob Haag, bassist Leslie Bohem, and drummer David Kendricks. Under their own name, the Gleaming Spires had a minor novelty new wave hit, "Are You Ready for the Sex Girls?," in 1981. Bohem has since become a fairly successful Hollywood screenwriter.
