[edit] examples of what?

This page doesn't say what these examples are used for, just provides a list of equations. Is that really what should be done? FrozenPurpleCube 15:36, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

I, too, don't really see what the point of this page is. Davidacolley (talk) 01:58, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rigour

I don't know if wikipedia articles are meant to be properly rigorous, but: When solving the separable first order linear ordinary differential equation, the integral of "1/y" is taken to be "lny", and not "ln|y|". Not only is "ln|y|" the correct answer, but it's also the one listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_logarithm#The_natural_logarithm_in_integration

Furthermore it has been assumed that y!=0 (which needn't be but it requires some elaboration as to why y can take zero values). 163.1.99.67 18:48, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I fixed that. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 01:37, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Seperable DEs

I thought equations in the form \frac {dy}{dx} = f(x)g(y) were also considered seperable and is solved by \frac {dy}{g(y)} = f(x)dx and thus \int\frac {dy}{g(y)} = \int f(x)dx Obscurans 19:39, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
