Everything You Want was the fourth album by Vertical Horizon, and the first to be released under their new contract with RCA Records. It was released in 1999. The first four tracks of the album were all released as singles. "Everything You Want" became one of the most played singles of 2000, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. "You're a God" was also very popular, if not quite as much as "Everything You Want". These two singles had popular music videos made for them; the video for "You're a God" featured actress Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. This album featured the debut of bassist Sean Hurley alongside older members Matthew Scannell, Keith Kane, and Ed Toth. Previous albums had an equal or close to equal balance of songwriting and singing duties between Matt and Keith, but Everything You Want featured Matt on ten of the eleven tracks, and Keith only on one.

The title track was also featured on the series Roswell, and was performed by Canadian 80's pop band Glass Tiger on the TV reality show, Hit Me Baby One More Time on VH1.

The CD is briefly visible in the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode "Coming of Rage" when Warrick Brown inspects the party room of a young murder suspect while looking for evidence.
