Hi!
I'm a student at Stanford University, pursuing a degree in Computer Science. I also work as an intern at FileMaker, testing their next release. In summer 2007, I worked at Penn State University in the College of Information Science and Technology, gaining an understanding of Nutch and Lucene search engines. I graduated from State College Area High School in June 2006.
Previously, I have worked at the Stanford Humanities Center, for which I wrote a Wikipedia article. I am also an avid Quizbowler, and have participated in events both in high school and college. As such, quite a few of my edits strive to improve the quality of related articles, including NAQT, PACE, and Knowledge Master Open.
I've been a user of Wikipedia since fall 2003, when I was doing some research for a project. However, the first time I used it a lot was during May 2004, researching various topics about the Cold War (and getting distracted by the other articles along the way). My edits consist mainly of fighting vandalism and gnoming around (correcting minor spelling and grammar mistakes).
When I'm not working or in class, I enjoy listening to all sorts of music, solving crosswords, and chatting with friends on AIM. I'm also a fan of the TV shows House, MD and (the sadly canceled) Firefly. In addition, I enjoy playing computer games; lately I've been playing Starcraft, Counter-Strike, and Unreal Tournament 2004. I also enjoy playing Halo its sequel Halo 2, as well as classics like Tetris and Minesweeper. Another hobby of mine is playing with Rubik's cubes: I have a few 3x3x3 cubes and one 5x5x5 cube.
I am an ethnic Chinese -- my parents are from mainland China, but I was born in the United States. Thus, I am a huá yì (华裔 simplified, 華裔 traditional). I am from State College, Pennsylvania and because of that, I have made several changes to the various articles regarding the locality. To find out more about me, visit my LiveJournal here.
About my username: according to dictionary.com, to ratiocinate means "to reason methodically and logically".
