[edit] Eurovision Song Contest 2007
The Eurovision Song Contest 2007 was the 52nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It was won by Serbia and was held at the Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, Finland from 10 May (semi-final) to 12 May (final). The hosting broadcaster of the contest was YLE. Finland earned the right to host the event thanks to the heavy metal band Lordi winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 as Finland's representatives. It meant that the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 was to be staged in Finland for the first time. The hosts were popular Finnish television personality Jaana Pelkonen and Finnish musician, stage performer and actor Mikko Leppilampi, with Krisse Salminen in the green room. The European Broadcasting Union and YLE announced that the theme for the 2007 contest would be “True Fantasy”, which embraced Finland and Finnishness in terms of the polarities associated with the country. The design agency “Dog Design” was responsible for the design of the visual theme of the contest which incorporated vibrant kaleidoscopic patterns formed from various symbols including exclamation marks and the letter "F". On 20 February 2007 a reworked official website for the contest was launched marking the first public exhibition of this year's theme.

He is considered a top act of the music scene of Republic of Macedonia. In 2004, MKTV chose Proeski to represent Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul, Turkey, and in February, he performed eight songs, where a jury, televote, and his own opinion chose the song...
[edit] Eurovision Song Contest 2006
The Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was the fifty-first Eurovision Song Contest, held at the Olympic Indoor Hall in Athens, Greece on the 18 May 2006 (for the semi-final) and 20 May 2006 (for the final). The hosting national broadcaster of the contest was ERT. The Finnish band Lordi won the contest with the song "Hard Rock Hallelujah" with a record 292 points. "Hard Rock Hallelujah" was the first ever hard rock song to win the contest (Eurovision is normally associated with softer pop music and schlager). This was also Finland's first victory in Eurovision after 40 years of participation. The official logo of the contest remained the same from 2004 and 2005 with the country's flag in the heart being changed. The 2006 sub-logo created by the design company Karamela for Greek television was apparently based on the Phaistos Disc which is a popular symbol of ancient Greece. According to ERT, it was "inspired by the wind and the sea, the golden sunlight and the glow of the sand". Following Istanbul's "Under The Same Sky" and Kiev's "Awakening", the slogan for the 2006 show was "Feel The Rhythm". This theme was also the basis for the postcards for the 2006 show, which emphasized Greece's historical significance as well as being a modern tourist destination.
[edit] Vanilla Ninja
Vanilla Ninja is a four-piece Estonian girl band that has enjoyed chart success in Germany, Estonia and Austria. The group was formed in 2002 and released their self-titled album Vanilla Ninja the following year. They have entered national selections for the Eurovision Song Contest twice, failing the first time but proving successful in Switzerland with the song "Cool Vibes". They then finished eighth in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest final, despite topping the leader board at the half-way stage. The group have so far released three albums in various countries across Europe; Vanilla Ninja was released in 2003, Traces Of Sadness in 2004, Blue Tattoo and Best Of (though not by themselves; see that article) in 2005. The group's fourth album, Love is War, was released in May 2006. The band were originally a four-piece group consisting of Maarja Kivi, Lenna Kuurmaa, Katrin Siska and Piret Järvis. Maarja Kivi left the group in 2004 and was replaced by Triinu Kivilaan. In December 2005 Triinu Kivilaan also left the group to start a solo career and finish school, and the band have decided to continue as a three-piece act.
[edit] Melodifestivalen
Melodifestivalen is an annual music competition organised by Sveriges Television and Sveriges Radio to determine the song and artist that will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It has been staged under various formats almost every year since the first public competition in 1959. The competition is a considerably popular live television and radio event—it is the most popular television programme in Sweden, a title it has held since 2000, at times eclipsing even Eurovision itself. In 2007, an estimated four million people—almost 44% of Sweden's population—watched the final, while the semifinals averaged around 3.1 million viewers. The winner is chosen by a number of regional juries and a national televote. Until 2001 the competition was normally limited to between eight and twelve songs, but since the introduction of semifinals in 2002 that number has risen to thirty-two. The event is often seen as being dominated by light orchestrated pop songs, known locally as schlager music—so much so that it is sometimes referred to as Schlagerfestivalen by the Swedish media—but other styles of music such as rap, reggae and glam rock have made an appearance since the competition's expansion.
