I have uploaded a photo onto the Wren Library (Cambridge) which I took myself. I want to obtain a free license and tag it to myself (Ed Simpson) but don't know how to do it!

I would direct you to Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags/Free_licenses so you can pick the exact license you want. It sounds like you're interested in either the Template:Attribution or the Template:GFDL-self template. Once you've decided which template you want, go to the edit page for your image, (here), and place the tag on the page (for example "{{GFDL-self}}". Be sure to remove the {{no copyright holder}} warning template that OrphanBot placed. Click "Save page" and you should be done. For future reference, you can specify the license when you upload the file using the pulldown box. Nice pic, by the way. Hoof Hearted 15:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Damn. Edit conflict. You would click the "Edit this Page" tab on Image:DSCF3135.JPG. Then you would add, for example, the tag {{pd-self}}, which tags it as your own work, and releases it into the public domain. Other options include {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}}, which releases it under GFDL, or even {{Self}}, which releases it under a liscense of your choice.
